Pompano Beach Arts – Family Cultural Dance Sampler

Description
The Cultural Dance Sampler is a series of community-based dance classes designed to introduce the community to a variety of cultural dance styles. Beginning in November of 2022 and concluding in April 2023 families will gain access to one (1) hour session consisting of cultural heritage presentation and instructor-led dance class during Saturdays of Green Market at 12:00 PM.
Instructors are part of Ashanti Cultural Arts.
The following are the cultural dance styles this event will feature:
- November 26 – African Dance
- Instructor: Nzingah Oniwosan
A Haitian American artist who began drawing once she was able to control a crayon with dexterity. “I was born an artist,” Nzingah explains. “It’s part of my DNA.” By twelve she won first place for an MLK drawing contest. In high school under the tutelage of her art teachers, she began to perfect her craft. Nzingah has extended her work as an artist by working as a teaching artist. Her commitment to reaching children through the arts has allowed her to work with well over twenty thousand students, in south Florida and nationally.
