Art & History Museums of Maitland- Free Family Day: Early Spring at A&H
231 West Packwood Avenue Maitland, FL 32751 United States
Description
Come celebrate the first signs of spring at the Art and History Museums in Maitland with a morning filled with “plein air” (outdoor) art activities all over our historic campus.
In the Mayan courtyard, we’ll have a pinch pot clay art workshop, where children can hand-build their own clay pot embellished with tiny treasures from nature! Our pinch pots are inspired by A & H’s founding artist, Jules Andre’ Smith who was a sculpture artist, and they’ll be ready to take home after the workshop!
In our main garden, children will use their observational skills on an “I Spy” spring-themed scavenger hunt while creating art in a mini sketchbook from the sights they see in our garden, like floating lily pads, tiny tadpoles, budding flowers – and even cement carvings adorned on the garden’s walls, doors and pathways designed by Jules Andre’ Smith.
Before leaving, children can take a bit of our garden home by decorating a recycled pot and planting seedlings for the new season.
We’ll have more surprises too, like face painting and complimentary admission to all our open main campus museum attractions.
Space and supplies are limited, so reserve a spot for your family today!
Early Spring Family Day is free of charge and sponsored by Massey Services.
